Welcome
Vzw Roeland, Youth Service promoting language skills, was founded as a registered non-profit-making organisation in 1952. In 1971 the aim of the organisation was broadened and French courses for secondary school children were set up. The English language courses started in 1974 and the French language courses for primary school children in 1998.
A couple of years ago the Flemish government recognised Roeland officially as a national youth service for the promotion of linguistic skills. Next to that we also organise two international drama festivals 'Artscene, youth theatre in foreign language', we run French and English workshops for primary school children, we offer language animations in schools and all kinds of training sessions, we publish different magazines and are involved in many other related projects.
The book contains icebreakers, warm-ups, expression and concentration games, theatre exercises and teambuilding activities. It was composed by Roeland animator Dominique Collet. All those that have already participated in a Roeland course will surely recognize some of the activities!
Besides the English version, there is also a Dutch one (‘100 x creatief met taal’) and a French one (‘100 x créatif en langues’) available. You can click on the book cover to see a few example pages. We hope that all the language animators and participants will enjoy working with it this summer!
To order the book, send an e-mail to evelien@roeland.be or come to our documentation centre (Krijgslaan 18, 9000 Ghent).
