Hungary did a very good job. The play had an interesting and original storyline. It was based on a play called ‘Runaway’ by Colin Jud, but characters were added and changed. It was really fun to see reality and game-world getting mixed.
In the real world, the youngsters are having a hard time because it is a world of adults. Some of them have run away from home. When they unexpectedly end up in the virtual world of the game, they come across some funny obstacles they have to overcome, e.g. a man with a giant sword, dancing trees, cavemen, … There were a lot of surprising and original moments and twists in the story line.
All 18 actors – quite a team! - acted with a lot of enthusiasm. It was nice that they could all be on stage and play an interesting part. Their facial expressions were really outstanding and they were also physically very present. The actors’ body language and facial expressions helped to overcome any communication problem we might have had. You could see that they had all worked a lot to make the play a success.
The group used sound effects to make the play even more realistic. The sounds actually scared the audience for real. The scene with the rap song had a surprising twist when the bench suddenly broke. But the actors kept their cool and kept on playing as if nothing had happened.
The light effects were also really good, especially the red light at the graveyard. And the costumes were awesome too.
The end came with a beautiful message: ‘Home is important!’ We loved the teddy bears that were thrown at the actors during the scene. It was really cute!
Good job Hungary! Congratulations to all.
