Day 2
Yesterday was the first full day of the Langley camp. We started off playing sports, followed by the introduction of the students to their classes. A really loud singing session was a good sign, this is going to be a noisy camp :) In the afternoon, there were more lessons and the sun shone on our water games activity; you can have a look at our photos!
In the evening, the workshops were introduced, now everybody knows what they will be working on for the rest of the camp. Finally, the internet crashed, so we couldn’t tell you all of this yesterday!
Today we are preparing for Norwich, everyone is looking forward to the first excursion!

Day 3: Village quiz
Today most of our afternoon was taken up by a walk to the nearby village of Loddon, where we had to find answers to questions and explain what we saw on photos. After that, most of the students were happy to go to the supermarket to buy some savoury snacks and refreshing beverages.
When we got back, Little John told us a little bit more about the city we are going to visit tomorrow: Norwich! I'm sure it will be a great experience!

Day 4: Norwich
After getting up bright and early for sports, we set off for Norwich. First, we all went bowling, then it was time for our options. Some people chose to do more bowling, others wanted to go to the Castle Museum and Art Gallery. On our walk to the centre, we stopped for lunch at the Cow Tower, where we could have a rest as well.
At Norwich Castle, we could see how people lived almost 1000 years ago, and there is also a lot of information about the vikings, the Egyptians, the Anglo-Saxons, Modern Art and wildlife. Too much to see, too little time! Afterwards, we also visited Norwich Cathedral, with its beautiful vaulted ceiling.
Finally, there was also some time to go shopping! This is what all the students were looking forward to.
On today's photos, you can also see what some of our workshops and tuckshop looks like.

Day 5
Yesterday was a more normal day for once: Sports, three lessons, an afternoon activity and workshops.
The afternoon activity was called "Help, I'm a Belgian, get me out of here!" At home, we would describe it as a combination of Big Brother and Expedition Robinson. The students were divided into smaller groups and they had to earn points by doing difficult or dirty challenges. The winning group had dinner in the fancy Mancroft room and were waited on by some of the assistants!
In the evening Little John told us about someone from Ghent coming over to see how motivated we still were to speak English. He's called Louis and I hope everyone will try their best to speak good English for him!

Day 6: Shakespeare Day
Yesterday was a very special day at Langley: Shakespeare Day! The whole day was about Shakespeare: lessons about his life, plays, poems and the era he lived in, an afternoon activity where the students turned one of his plays into a contemporary masterpiece and an evening walk along all of these presentations. Who knew Shakespeare could be this funny? All the classes did a fantastic job in rewriting the bard's plays.
Everybody learned a lot, but we are all very tired now too. That's why today is a lazy Sunday!

Day 7
Yesterday was a lazy Sunday, so we had a lie-in until 8.30. First, all the students had the chance to clean their rooms, which was necessary as we're already halfway through the camp. Then there were different options: lazy sports, a movie and going to church in Loddon.
After our Sunday Roast, our day looked like any other day: two lessons and a cleudo game. In groups they had to find out who murdered the director of the hospital, aka our assistant Sam.
In the evening, everybody got dressed up for the Casino! All the students received some money to spend on gambling and guessing, and afterwards there was a mini-dicos. What an excited group this is!

Days 8 and 9: Nature Walk and Cambridge
What a busy few days these have been! On Monday we went on a walk through the countryside. All the students walked in groups of ten, with their friends and a few staff members, and discovered the beautiful Norfolk Broads. After that, everybody had the chance to get a drink at a real English pub.
Yesterday we went on a trip to Cambridge. We've had wondeful weather so far, but the gods were against us in Cambridge. Everyone had the chance to choose their own activities that day, so students ended up at the Orchard Cafe, walking in the countryside, golfing, punting, swimming and visiting many colleges and the Fitzwilliam Museum. In the evening, everyone was very tired, thankfully the kitchen staff was waiting for us with lasagna. After that, the students had their second to last workshop. Can't wait to see the result!
Finally, we're experiencing some problems with the server, as it won't upload any more phots, although we've created more space.

Days 10, 11 and 12
Yesterday was a busy day for everyone. Teachers were teaching their last real lessons and assistants had to finish their workshops. In the evening, everyone had the opportunity to see how all the workshops had turned out. We watched videos by the Chinese Shadows Thingy workshop, Multisports, Debate and Arts. We all enjoyed the Impro performance very much, as well as the impressive kick-dancing show. But the evening started off with a real Punch and Judy puppet show by Cezara's workshop.
Today was all about cleaning up and having one last fun afternoon. Classes were competing against each other in different sports, and after that, students competed against the staff! Tonight, all the students will receive an official certificate. To celebrate the end of the course, there will be a disco; and to make sure we won't forget each other, there is also a message party at the same time.
Tomorrow morning we will have to get up bright and early, because the coach to Belgium will leave at 8.30! I hope you've all enjoyed reading this blog as much as we have enjoyed this course!
