Read along in Jules’ diary – Junior English

Ten-year-old Jules joined the Junior English language camp. In his diary, he shares all the adventures he experienced.
Monday – Wild West Welcome!
Howdy! Today we really became cowboys! At first, we played some get-to-know-you games to learn the names of our new friends. Then the sheriff held a speech to welcome us at the camp, and we got our first English class.
After lunch, we got permission to decorate our rooms, and I even wrote a first letter for home. After that, we held a photoshoot to celebrate the start of the week. The rest of the day was all about practising our cowboy skills: shooting ropes, tossing horseshoes and even target practise with water pistols. I am curious to see who is about to become the sheriff!
For this evening, we decided to go for a creative workshop: LEGO Masters, drama, or sports. I picked LEGO Masters. This camp started off extremely well! Hopefully, mom and dad don’t miss me too much… Or maybe just a little?
Tuesday – Inside Out!
Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster this day was! In the morning, we learned all about colours, emotions and how one feels, in English. In the afternoon, some panic stirred: Sadness and Fear sounded the alarm because all emotions were all of a sudden gone! Luckily, we got to work in teams to solve the puzzles, in order to find the missing emotions. We got all the puzzles right!
Tonight, we got to choose again: watching the EC Football semifinals or going to bed as scheduled. Most kids – me included – wanted to watch the game. Spain against France: exciting! Tomorrow we will go on a quest for adventures, as tough Vikings!
Wednesday – Vikings
Some kids lost their voice from all the cheering, that’s how exciting yesterday’s football finale was!
This morning, we woke up with Viking songs, and we drank our breakfast out of a horn (which is a cup, Viking-style). In class, we learned about directions and how you show someone the way, which comes in super handy when you are on a Viking adventure.
In the afternoon, we played dodgeball and Just Dance, and then we organised an enormous strategy game with the Norse gods. We had to set up a camp site and defend it. After a well-fought battle, we celebrated our victory with French fries!
Tomorrow, we go on a field trip to Puyenbroeck, and we will do so as hippies! Let me say to this: Peace & Love!
Thursday – Hippie Day!
Today was a super chill day. We went on a field trip to Puyenbroeck. At first, we discovered all the playgrounds (best playground ever!), and then we organised a picknick. In the afternoon we played some minigolf. I almost scored a hole-in-one!
Before we returned to our camp, we all joined in on a flash mob. Quite funny! Tonight, there’s a movie marathon and loads of popcorn. I’m going to sleep in my sleeping bag, and I am also curious about tomorrow.
Friday – Royal Farewell
Today was the last day of our camp. We picked up some more sentences in English and did some royal games. We got to wear our finest clothes, because a royal visit was pending (our teachers, of course!). We all received a certificate to reward this week’s demanding work. I learned so much, and it was all great fun. I definitely want to join again next year!
