GO BACKJunior Dutch - Content in Gent
During this camp, children from all over the world find each other in the heart of Ghent. The program includes lots of culture, including drama, storytelling and a boat ride on the fairy-tale Ghent canals. The typical Flemish cuisine, such as the tasty "neuzekes" or hot waffles should not be missed, of course. Are already quite good at speaking Dutch and do you want to make friends all over the world? Let's meet up in Ghent!
This camp is organized in cooperation with Vlamingen in de Wereld. This organization for expats brings together participants from all over the world to be immersed in the Dutch language and culture for a whole week.
Activities
- Practice your Dutch three to four times a day during fun language workshops adjusted to your level.
- Sing along! You will be learning some great, catchy Dutch songs. You will be sure to get more than enough exercise thanks to the sports and big games on offer!
- You will be immersed in the rich culture and unique atmosphere of Ghent, with cultural outings. Past events have included a drama workshop with professional actors, a puppet theatre and all kinds of top storytellers.
- Thanks to the very homelike support, everyone feels at ease at the camp. In the evening, there are cozy stories, songs or music, and then a quiet sleep.
Full immersion
Unlike other junior camps, this camp is organised entirely in Dutch. We therefore expect participants to have at least a basic level of Dutch: they can introduce themselves, talk about their feelings, ask simple questions and understand everyday questions and instructions without much difficulty. Excursions
Art and culture are always right behind the corner in the photogenic centre of Ghent. A city walk will have us wandering amongst the trendy coffee bars and ancient facades, discovering the most beautiful corners of this vibrant city. You won't know where to begin as we see one beautiful building after another glide by from our boat. Along the way we will see the impressive Castle of the Counts and we will greet the throngs of students enjoying an ice cream on the Graslei.
Type of camp: Roeland Classic
You'll experience Roeland's well-known recipe for success: during the camp, you will only speak the target language, as will the camp coaches. The team consists of native speakers and/or speakers who have a very good command of the language. They will help you express yourself fluently in the target language. It's ok to make mistakes, of course, as long as you try! During the camp, you will follow language workshops in small groups and according to your level. This classic formula is the best way to make great progress and have fun. By the end of camp, you'll even be dreaming in the target language!

Coach transport
Coach transport is not included in the basic price and amounts to 55 euros (return).

Location
Nieuwen Bosch is an oasis of peace and calm tucked away in the centre of historical Ghent. Beneath the site’s ancient trees, you will find a multi-purpose sports hall, volleyball, mini-football and basketball courts, a recently refurbished playground and a spacious theatre. Summer camps in Oostakker: Camp participants sleep in single rooms.
